Had a great breakfast here! Justin was super nice and took such great care of us! Very few places make Shakshouka well if at all and this was delicious!!!! The Eggs Benedict was half gone before I could get a pic! Haha Ask for Justin when you visit!!!! :)
If you are ever in Laguna Hills and looking for a good French bakery/pastry, look no further! You can get your bread loaves, baguettes, and a variety of pastry choices at Chaupain Bakery. If you are indecisive, their friendly staff will provide insights on what is popular or preferences you may have towards baked goods. Be mindful during peak hours though. The line can get long during breakfast/brunch time. Usually best when the items are fresh out of the oven. They also have sit-down options with savory choices as well. There's a nice deck where you can enjoy your morning delights also. Love this place and their goods. Swing by and take a gander. :)
Seriously the best croissant I've found in LA/OC. It's flakey and warm and just plain delicious. We also tried the breakfast skillet and strawberry pastry, they were good. I can't wait to come back and try their other bakery items. The staff were really friendly. The shop is modern and clean. There's also a patio area for outside seating. We went on a weekend morning and there was a constant line. Decent amount of parking spaces in this plaza.
I feel like it's hard to find a really good bakery in OC but Chaupain really checks all the boxes and does it right! We came here on a Friday morning and they had a good steady flow of customers but wasn't super crowded. I love how they have so many pastry options and they all look like they have a great bake on them. We ordered a pan au chocolat, kouign-amann, ham and cheese croissant, and a plain croissant. Holy smokes the proofing and bake of every item was amazing. They were tasty with every bite. We also ended up eating some the next day and reheating it they were still tasty! They also come in great boxes that make it easy to take away and drive to Laguna to enjoy by the beach! The inside section of the store is a little tight if there's too many people in there at once but they have a lot of outdoor seating with umbrellas. There were a good amount of birds hovering the patio waiting to swoop in but it didn't ruin the experience for us. The staff was pretty friendly but there was a hint of pretentiousness when I was ordering since I'm personally not familiar with the French names of the pastries like the kougin-amann which is a slight turn off for me. Overall, the pastries are tasty and weren't too pricey. I would come back whenever I'm in the mood for great quality pastries. I would probably just take them to go next time rather than eating on the patio.
Had Breakfast burrito, fruit with coffee on a cool sunny morning was great! First time here and the staff was super informative on everything so we decided to order some croissants to go and it did NOT disappoint. Everything was DELICIOUS. My favorite was probably the ALMOND CROISSANT & the PISTACHIO CROISSANT yum! Minus 1 for the annoying birds flying around, they got alittle too close for my comfort.
Chaupain is by far one of the best in my humble one! Upon entering we were greeting by the bakers and as we were waiting in line, one of the bakers offered us a free sample of their baked goods, it was delicious! We had come to get their breakfast and coffee and they did not disappoint, I also grabbed a loaf of bread and it was pretty good once we tried it at home , over all good vibes and a friendly and fun atmosphere, there is plenty of parking
I love a good butter croissant and I finally found one that is amazing. Texture was perfect.. very soft yet excellent texture on the outside. Just buttery enough but not oily. I ate half before even taking a photo Kouign Amaan here is phenomenal. Tasted so fresh amazing crunch with just the right amount of sweetness. If you like a good bakery I think chaupain is the best one in oc
CHAUPAIN BAKERY is out of the way for me so it took some maneuvering before we can finally visit and try their croissants, which, I was told, is very good. CHAUPAIN BAKERY is located in a shopping center with plenty of free and available parking. There was a line going out the door -- to be fair, there wasn't much space inside, so the line really wasn't that long. Also, it didn't take long for us to get to the front. Nutella Croissant was great according to my kid, who had to be forced to share a bite. Butter Croissant is warm fresh and delicious. Cheese and Spinach Croissant was even better. Kouign Amman was sugary and buttery and perfect with coffee. Or tea.
I came here for the first time on a Monday early afternoon and I was thrilled to see there was still a stocked pastry case! Everything looked so good, I ended up choosing 4 croissants: pain au chocolat, jalapeno cheese, pistachio, & almond. The worker ended up giving us 2 croissants (plain, almond custard) on the house which was so sweet of them!! I've only had the croissants here but safe to say they were all sooo good - flaky, not overly sweet, and the perfect lil picnic snack! Loved the customer service as well, they were so patient as I chose my pastries and were happy to pack them in a box and give me multiple bags as I requested. I will definitely be coming back if I'm ever in the area!
We have gone back twice now. The first time we got the almond custard croissant because he had tried an almond croissant that was incredible in the Bay Area and wanted to find something similar or better more locally. This bakery had great reviews so we were excited. However, it's not for us. The croissant was baked perfectly but the filling was much too sweet and heavy for us. We did also try their pistachio croissant which was fine. Didn't leave us wanting more but it was fun to try a unique flavor and it was good, just not our preferred flavor. Our last bakery selection on the first trip was the strawberry custard croissant and my goodness, that didn't disappoint. It was sooooooo good we came back just to get it again, as proof of the photo from today attached to this review. Last time we had lunch there and had the chicken pesto sandwich. Very satisfying. I recommend that. This time we also picked up the chocolate ganache croissant and if you like chocolate ganache, I'm thinking Youll like this. It's really well made. The croissant was so light and flaky and yet soft inside. It was great. They also had a sample of this chocolate chip raspberry cake? Muffin? It was a sample by the register. Oh my goodness, it was perfect. Light soft moist not overly sweet. Such a perfect bite. We had to leave and there was a line so I didn't get a chance to look for it and buy to take home, but now we have another thing to look forward to next time we come. If you're in the area, and you like bread/bakeries, I think this is worth a visit.
